BASIC TATAMI WEEKLY CARE GUIDE
To maintain the life span of your handcrafted Tatami, please take extra care in ensuring that no sharp / pointed objects are dragged upon them. Such objects include: pen knives, scissors, jewellery etc. It is also important to make sure that your Tatami is used on a daily basis and placed in an area, which is well-ventilated. Caring for your Tatami can be done in 3 simple steps every once a week! |

1. VACUUM Gently vacuum along the weave of the Tatami, at low speed. |
2. WIPE Wipe the weave of your Tatami with a rinsed cloth. Make sure cloth has been squeezed dry before wiping. |
3. VENTILATE Allow Tatami to be air-dried in a well-ventilated area e.g. turning on the electric fan or opening windows, for at least 30 minutes. Regular usage and airing will ensure Tatami stays in good condition. |
|
TIPS: Squeeze fresh lemon juice (of half a lemon) in to half a pail (i.e. 1500 ml) of water. Rinsing your cloth in this natural solution can help to moisturize and remove grime from your Tatami more effectively! |
