The client’s intended purpose of the project is to have a space where family and friends can dine while enjoying each other's company and overlooking the beautiful outdoor scenery. Our client loves to have her friends over for tea and have conversations on her cosy Tatami platform. It is a great place to dine while holding family gatherings. For the client, it is a truly serene space to focus on a home-cooked meal with the company of her loved ones after a long and hectic day of work.

Description

A high Tatami platform with hidden storage was done because our clients wanted to maximize both storage and seating space when dining at their six-seater table. The L-shaped Tatami platform created a sleek yet elegant design that matched their existing dining table and chairs. The purpose of the L-shaped platform was to leave room for wheelchairs and baby high chairs so that the little ones can be part of meals.

Description

Our client was very fond of his travels to Japan and got his inspiration for the project from there. This project is of big importance and meaning as the Tatami room is a dedicated space where his entire family comes together for meals. It also reminded them of the memories that were made in Japan. Our client also mentioned that guests were pleasantly thrilled while eating in a dining set-up that was similar to that of a Ryokan.
