Tips for Tatami Longevity
- Store only when fully dry, in a cool, ventilated space.
- Do not wash with water or steam clean.
- Do not use bleach or harsh detergents. These actions damage natural fibers
- Do not place heavy, sharp furniture without protection.
- Avoid plastic covers underneath or over Tatami, if mild mold appears
- Avoid heaters directly beneath or beside the tatami
- Prevent over‑drying.
- Prolonged sun can fade colour, and fibers may dry and weaken. Place in indirect light. Use curtains or blinds
Tatami is not synthetic. It carries scent, texture, and variation. Small changes are natural. Care with intention. The tatami will support you quietly for years.
