Our Kakebutons are available in a single size, making it simple to match them with any Shikibuton Futon size.

Every Kakebuton purchased comes with one removable cotton fabric cover of your choice. These high-quality Kakebuton covers are made of Pure Cotton and printed with intricate floral patterns.

How do you clean the Kakebuton?

Futon Insert Maintenance

Sunning: Sun your futon once a month to keep it plump and maintain hygiene.
Refreshing: After sunning, spray our Hinoki Mist lightly to freshen the insert. Please ensure you apply only a light mist; do not spray enough to make the cotton wet.
Cleaning: The insert is for dry cleaning only. You may send it for professional dry cleaning once or twice a year. Do not hand wash or machine wash the insert.

Cover Care

Preparation: Always turn covers inside out and place them into a laundry net before washing to protect the fabric design.
Color Check: Before machine washing, hand wash a small area first to check for potential color bleeding.
Temperature: Use a maximum water temperature of 20 to 30 degrees Celsius for all washes.

Is a Kakebuton the same as a Shikibuton?

No, they are not the same! While both are essential components of a traditional Japanese bedding system (futon), they serve completely opposite purposes. A Shikibuton is what you sleep on (the mattress), and a Kakebuton is what you sleep under (the duvet).
