Bedrooms featured traditional spring mattresses, which lacked the unique sensory and temperature-regulating qualities of Tatami.
The challenge was to replicate the cooling comfort he cherished in the living room Tatami in the bedrooms.
To successfully integrate Tatami into the bedrooms, specifically targeting the bay window areas.
The integration had to be done without disrupting the existing bedroom aesthetic.

The design strategy focused on a targeted, strategic enhancement by custom-fitting high-quality Tatami Mats into the bedroom bay window areas. This approach was designed not merely for aesthetics, but to replicate the proven natural cooling benefits and sensory comfort Peter Ko already enjoyed in his living room, seamlessly integrating the new sleeping surfaces with the existing decor to foster a consistent, grounded theme of natural living throughout the home.

The collaboration was directly informed by Peter Ko's extensive and positive five-year experience with his existing Tatami living room platform, which proved the material's cooling benefits and comfort. Based on this established trust and his appreciation, our team designed a targeted solution beforehand to extend that same comfort and natural aesthetic by precisely installing custom-fit Tatami Mats into the bay window areas of his bedrooms, effectively replicating his preferred environment.
